Smoker
I need help. I recently aquired my fathers 86 GN. It had been sitting for 10 years or so. Long story short, I have it running good. It smokes blue smoke at idle. I rebuilt the turbo, still smoke. Replaced pcv and vacuum lines, and had valve guide seals put in. Still smokes. The mechanic that put the seals in said the plugs looked good.( they have approx 300 miles) which he felt that if it was a ring issue, it would have indicated so on the plugs. I have a scanmaster and a turbotweak chip installed. I read that the iac reading should be between 10 and 30 warmed up at idle in park. Mine was at 68. i got it down to 36, and the screw is almost all the way in, but it seemed to slow the smoke. Am I correct in saying that has nothing to do with oil smoke?
Sometimes it smokes bad, and sometimes almost none. My thoughts were the turbo rebuild was not effective. How can i tell what my problem is and what i should do next? Any help/feedback is appreciated! |

Re: Smoker
Did you recheck the TPS after adjusting the idle stop screw?
Are you sure the IAC passage is clean? Have you checked compression?
