Can you show pictures of all casting marks on the sides of the block? I remember that there is something distinctive that the TR blocks seem to have that the non-TR blocks didn't seem to have.
Also, is it possible that the block is an '86, not an '87, and we are making an error in the assumption about the VIN prefix? I assume the drainback hole has clearly been put in from the factory, not likely in the field?

I'll have to take some more pics of it. It "looks" to me like any other 87 block. It's got the factory drilled turbo drain for sure. These are the only pics I have now...
I was checking the pistons and 2 dot rods on this shot....
