Default cam sensor voltage

ok well i just replaced all my bent push rods. and moved my cam to the proper location. it was 180 degrees out of phase...i feel like a idiot that is for sure. i got all that set and back together, however now when i was trying to set my cam sensor up. where the sensor was usally 7.5 volts it is reading like almost 12 volts, and then when i rotate it the window where it would drop to 0 it drops down lower around 5-7 volts. Did i mess something up. i did this with a bunch of sensor unplugged because it was easier to get to before i completely assembled the front of the engine, could that have anything to do with it? is my cam sensor taking a **** on me?

BTW thanks all for the help you provided and all the helpful info you guys provided to me. hopefully after this there will be no more problems

Question Re: cam sensor voltage

Having all the other stuff disconnected is probably making that happen.

You are checking the right wires, aren't you?
