Default Flaky boost and tach displays

Finally got the GN I've been lusting after since high school.
It's fairly modified; PT52, 50# injectors, front IC. I'm not sure of the chip, though.

The question is whether there's a way to recalibrate the GM tach and boost displays. At idle, the LEDs are showing 4000 RPM and 4 pounds of boost or so. They both increase appropriately, but I'd like to reset the baseline somehow. The red bars at 2500 actual RPM are unnerving. Also, at what psi should I see the green power injection indicator?

Thanks.

Talk to John or Justin at Casper's Electronics ...

They can repair the circuit board for you.

What's up with these "low gas" chips I have been seeing on ebay? Are these worth the money or is this a scam? I was thinking that maybe some loaded regals in the junkyards might have this same chip that I could grab on my next trip??? Also, what is the green "Power Injection" light for and why does mine never come on?

Lightbulb Re: Flaky boost and tach displays

The "Power Injection" area of the dash panel has no light behind it. It was for a possible water / methanol injection system akin to what was on the Buick 215 turbo that was on the Olds "JetFire" of the early 60's. Never materialized.

I had the Power Injection light on last week. I want to say it came on at 15-18 psi. Can't be sure. It did go out when I got out of the go pedal.

Now, the previous owner may have wired the PI light to work in conjunction with the alcohol injection.

Could the tach/boost and the fuel gauge all be driven from the same faulty board? Or are my inconsistent fuel readings caused by the sender?

Thanks for your ongoing help.

The "low gas" board/light plugs into the socket on the Regal. It was available on some of the Rivieras that shared the same basic dash.

Back in the day, you could buy the plug in board/light from GM for pretty cheap (I have it on mine and works great). They are long discontinued so they are worth what ever folks will pay for them now.

It'd be my guess that the previous owner had it wired up to an alky system or something. The stock dash doesn't even have a bulb plugged into that space.

Tach/boost are related but I think the fuel gauge is probably the ground on the sender (pretty common)>

Ok, so I am sure that this has been discussed before. But, my fuel guage sucks, flat out... Has it been determined that the actual gauge is faulty or is it usually the sender itself that is faulty? Any suggestions or tips to help me fix my fuel gauge?
