Thank you for the info. tried all new relay-delays and it started several times in an hour put old ones back in- started several more times. about 2 hours later went out and would not start. will remove the relay -delay immediately. also going to pull the starter andhave it checked and rebuilt if needed.

good to hear..

I would unplug the fan delay relay " the biggest of the fan relays"
All it does is run the fan after the car is shut off.. IMOP its not needed and I have seen many dead batteries because of it..

Phil, I ran into a guy yesterday just up the road from me that has a GN. He's looking for that 'big' fan relay that you mentioned. I said I'd check online for him since he's tech challenged. I looked on the usual sites (Gbody, FullThrottle) but didn't see any. Any idea where I could help him locate one? He said he's tried dealers but no one can find one. Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: Relay Fan

They do fit the Turbo Trans Ams, as well as the VIN 3 FWD 1986 Cutlass Cieras and Buick Centurys. So they are available (usually by order) from the large retailers.

The price at Poston's is pretty good. Nos4GN stocks AC Delco originals...for $129.

FWIW, I find it valuable. You can pull your car into the pits after a run, and after running it a bit, pop the hood, shut it off, and flip a switch you hook up to short the "overheat" sensor line from the intake manifold. Then shut the car off. This will let that timer relay keep the fan on for the time allowed, then shut it off (provided it is working properly). Its like an (almost) factory made cooldown system.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Wow, what a price difference.
I've got the switch setup on my car. I didn't realize though that it was 'on a timer' and shut it off myself after it cools down a bit.
Scott, good to meet you last month.

I had to order it from o'reilly's here in NC. I will go back through my folder of paper and look for the part #. I think it was less than 75.00. Advance Auto, NAPA and Auto Zone could not get it.

Talking Re: Relay Fan

The link I posted is from Advance. (Checker, Schucks, and Kragen as well.) You just need a better counter boy.
