Default Re: Which Fuel Pump Should I get this time?

Got a stock pump for a 91 GMC Syclone and got it installed and running. Has a 1 year warranty so I figure at the rate I'm going with pumps I should be able to get about 20 pumps for the price of one within a year

What's a safe boost level to run with this pump + or - alky?

Kinda a vague question but.....
Check with your chip maker if you are running an aftermarket chip.
Check with your alky mfgr. for their opinion too.
Whatever you do, avoid engine knock.

Will do....I didn't think about that. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

T-Top....how has that Syclone GMC pump working for you? Having pump issues myself and looking for alternatives. Thanks, Jim

Might want to be sure its not your 20+ year old fuel pump relay giving up before bailing on the Walbros. I believe that was my ultimate problem.
Scott, do you have any info/spec's on the this AC pump? How much pressure it's capable of? Could this be hotwired with out issues. Thanks alot, Jim

Jim, this pump is so far so good, but I don't go over 15 PSI boost ever. Also, here's a link to some information that may be helpful to your question about pressure. Hotwiring this pump is not an issue although I don't currently have mine that way.....After looking at the chart I wonder about the pump for the 92-3 ford supercoupe, but I've never seen it mentioned on here but then again I haven't been looking for it....

Thank alot, I was in to visit my parts guy today and we dug up some spec's on the ES-381 AC and was informed it's cut off was 92 psi and flo's 45 gal/hr, which is considerably better that stock application. Picked one up for $165....little pricey but if she works, I'm happy. I hope he was correct on his spec's.

Just an update, installed the EP381 last week and the car runs like champ. Mine you, she's stock but the FP is right there. I set the static to about 42-43lbs, and took it out for a blast and pressure rose to about 58psi (15lbs of boost)
It's the best the car has run since I got it. That's not saying much as I've only owned it about a month, but I'm very happy with this pump...so far.
WOT... 0 knock and the O2's are around 820 (a bit rich?) @ 15 psi. I noticed the boost does drop off a couple lbs to around 13, is that normal? Later, Jim

Yes, and that is when I see it drop. Thank you.
