VDO Boost Gauge Installation
Ken Mosher
Introduction
These instructions were written to help people install a boost gauge in their Turbo Regal.
Procedure
1. Locate the metal vacuum/pressure hose that goes from the top of the throttle body (with all the other lines)-->heater rail passenger side---> back of the manifold--->flexible coupler--->fairly rigid little plastic tube.
2. Snip the flexible tube and put a "T" in the line. You'll have to use a couple short pieces of vacuum hose to join the "T" to the stiff plastic tube pieces.
3. The straight thru part of the "T" joins the two halves of the snipped tube back together and the new part is where you put the clear plastic tubing. Again, use vacuum hose and wire ties or small hose clamps to secure everything. You don't want leaks or things blowing off!

4. Route the clear plastic tubing behind the coil pack and out of sight over to the driver's side of the firewall. I find that little black wire ties work good for securing things.
5. Use a piece of hanger (straightened) to poke thru the grommet in the firewall. This grommet has a few wires and the speedometer cable going thru it. You might have to loosen the securing strap a bit and poke around with the wire to get it thru.
6. Drop the bottom dash (a couple/few screws) around the pedals.
7. Bend a compact hook in the end of the wire (on the firewall side) and tape the tubing to it.
8. Locate the other end of the hanger wire under the dash (it's kind of high, up by the steering column) and pull it thru gently. It should pull the tubing thru and you can untape the end. Take up all the slack and secure things in the under hood region the way you want it.
9. Route the hose to where you want the gauge.
10. Put the brass nut over the tube.
11. Put the little ferrule over the tube end.
12. Screw the nut on the back of the gauge, tighten it, but not over tight.
13. Run the black wire to a good ground screw.
14. Run the other wire (white?) to the back of the radio (you'll have to pull the radio out to do this). I spliced it (with all my other gage lights) into the wire that goes to the terminal marked "LAMPS". This way your dimmer switch will dim the gauge lights right along with the instrument panel gauges.
