| Emissions Chips |
| Having trouble passing emissions tests with that awesome street or strip chip you've been using? Did you misplace your stock chip? Don't feel like shelling out hard earned bucks for an emissions chip for your oversize injectors? Have no fear, get your emissions chips here!
These chips are based on the emissions recall chip. I've made a couple modifications that should help to lower emissions output even more. I've raised the park/neutral idle to 850RPM and I've rasied the operating temperature to 198 DegF. Even with a 160 DegF thermostat, your car will run at almost 200 DegF, as long as you aren't moving. This is by design, don't let it make you nervous. Before using one of these chips, set your fuel pressure to 38 PSI with the vacuum line disconnected. If you have a test pipe installed, reinstall the catalytic converter (if available). I don't know how well one of these chips will work without a catalytic converter installed, but I guarantee the car will have the lowest emissions possible of *any* chip. These chips are not CARB legal, but I'll bet they burn cleaner than any chip that is. DO NOT attempt to race your car while using this chip! Detonation will be severe if you do. The drivability of this chip is not very good either. To use one of these chips, locate a blank 2732 EPROM and an EPROM programmer. Program this binary file into the EPROM and place this chip into the plastic carrier. If you do not have access to an EPROM programmer, you can buy an Intronics unit for about $130. This is a very nice unit that is powered by 9 volts DC and interfaces via an IBM compatible parallel port. You can get an EPROM eraser for about $40, I prefer the DataraseII. EPROMs go anywhere from around $2 up to a maximum of $5. One easy place to find EPROMs is JDR, although their prices are a bit high, you do not have to order in quantity. Another place is in your local junk yard. Just look in some of the ECMs there, but you have to make sure you get an EPROM and not a ROM. An EPROM has a glass window usually covered by a sticker. |

Stock Injectors Note: It's okay to run low impedence injectors with the stock ECM long enough to get through an emissions test.
These chips are free for the taking. If you wish to sell chips based on any these programs, all that I ask is that you only charge for the price of the materials. (Should be less than $10). None of the chip programs found here are based on any chip manufacturer's code (except of course, GM). |
