Features of Note:
- This is the compressor side of the PTE 51 turbo (left) and the TA49 turbo (right)
- Notice the the wheels are basically identical
- If you look carefully, you can see that the both have equal length compressor blades
- TA49 has a replacement inlet bell with no valve cover vent tube provision
- PTE51 has the inlet bell integral to the casting
- Notice how the PTE scroll (left) is taller and "fatter" than the Garrett housing (right0, as is typical for the TE series
- Notice the PTE takes pressurized air from a different place than the TA49
|
Features of Note:
- This is the downpipe side of the TA49 (right) and the PTE51 turbo (left)
- Both turbos have the wastegate hole taken out bigger than stock
- The wheel design for the PTE51 has fewer fins with a sharper pitch
- The PTE51 wheel is larger
- Notice how much bigger the PTE turbine housing (left)is than the Garrett housing (right) ... much fatter and taller
- Notice the PTE housing is fat/tall enough to almost eclipse the turbo cover bolt in the front.
|
Features of Note:
- PTE51 (left) and TA49 (right)
- You can see the taller/wider cross section of the turbine housing from this angle
- Stock center section on both turbos
- Stock wastegate actuator on both turbos
- You can't really see it, but the wastegate actuator has a modification to how it mounts, since the compressor housing is slightly different
- You can also see how the turbo cover mount is slightly different, due to the tighter clearances
- You can clearly see the differences in inlet bells
|
Features of Note:
- PTE51 (left) and TA49 (right)
- Turbine housings look more similar from this angle, but the PTE is still clearly larger/taller
- Stock center section on both turbos
- You can really see how much fatter the PTE compressor housing is compared to the stock appearing housing
- Again, you can see the differences in inlet bells
