OVERVIEW

Features of Note:
  • These are pictures of 86-87 T-Type wheels and the American Racing 'Vector' wheels which are of the same pattern. (Think "Dukes of Hazzard" General Lee Charger)
  • These wheels were not made by Western. While Western did make 'turbine' style wheels, they were a different pattern with a much denser 'fin' count.
  • A picture of 4 wheels.

    Top to bottom:
    • Stock 7" 86-87 wheel,
    • 7" American Racing 'Vector'. (Weight: 20 lbs.)
    • 8.5" Vector. (Weight: 22.5 lbs.)
    • 10" Vector. (Weight: 37 lbs.) The 10" has the inlays painted to match the car they were on.
Vector 7" vs. Stock T Type Wheel
Features of Note:
  • Wheel on the left is a 7" Vector
  • Wheel on the right is a stock 7" 1986-87 T
  • Almost identical, except the stock rim looks to be machined or polished a bit more.
Vector 7" Wheel
Features of Note:
  • 7" Vector closeup
  • Note the square-shouldered 'mag' lug holes and large centercap opening for cap that inserts from the rear
  • Note how the 'spokes' go all the way to the center raised 'ring'.
Stock T Type 7" Wheel
Features of Note:
  • 7" stock wheel. Note the 'cone' type lug holes and flanged centercap opening for stock cap.
  • Note how the spokes taper cleanly into the center raised 'ring'.
10" Vector, 8.5" Vector, 7" Stock T Type Wheel
Features of Note:
  • Left to right: 10" Vector, 8.5" Vector, 7" stock.
  • Note valve stem hole placement on 10" Vector. It is behind the wheel pattern 'face' and sits behind one of the 10 'slots' in the casting

Features of Note:
  • Front to back: 10" Vector, 8.5" Vector, 7" stock.

Stock T Type and American Racing Vector Center Cap Comparison
Features of Note:
  • Left to right: Stock T-Type cap, American Racing "Vector" cap.
  • Vector cap is taller, and designed to be inserted from rear of wheel.
Features of Note:
  • Left to right: Stock T-Type cap, American Racing "Vector" cap. T-Type cap is damaged and many of its mounting tabs are broken off.
  • Vector cap is taller, and designed to be inserted from rear of wheel.
  • By cutting a portion of the 'flange' area off the rear of a Vector cap and epoxying to the rear of a stock T-Type cap, the combination can be used on a Vector wheel to match the stock T-Type look.
