Installation of Polyurethane Bushings
Linc Belt
Introduction
Well, this weekend was a fun one.. With the extensive help of Mr. Erik Skarsgardthemum the "Beast" now has PST polygraphite bushings up front and KYB shocks all around... The project was a b*tch, but worth the effort.. If anyone else is planning on doing this themselves, I reccomend you get your hands on the following tools IN ADDITION TO the normal tools you'd need to take the front end apart.. I've found that most socket sets/wrench combos don't have these sizes for some odd reason, but the front end requires them...

Procedure

  • 18mm DEEP well socket
  • 18mm std socket
  • 20mm std socket
  • try to have 1/2" drive on the above, 'cause the stress on a 3/8" can kill it!!
  • EXTENSIONS!!
  • 18mm wrench
  • 15/16" wrench
  • 7/8" wrench
  • 2 BFH's:
  • Rubber BFH
  • Std BFH

Believe me, I had to run around town just trying to find some of these damned tools to finish the job.. but if you have 'em handy, it'll be REAL nice once you sit down & get going.. Of course, I won't bother with the details of the whole process, but having access to a press is really nice as well.. We had access to the machine shop here (snicker, snicker) yet it still took us 3 hours to get the old bushings out, new ones in, and pressing the ball joints in.. sometimes looked like a monkey trying to "have his way" with a football.. didn't know which end to hold on to!!

Now, for the results.. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! the front end is soooo tight and the "Beast" absolutely refuses to pitch like it used to..!! PST makes one hell of a product, & they weren't all that bad in price.. I paid about $300 for the shocks and front end kit all together.. Any questions please feel free to email..
