i am finally getting a new tranny in my GN next week and then the week after i am going to the track.

i have never drag raced this car, and ive only been the the track to race twice, the first time was in my dads dakota 4 door pick up (i won 75 bucks that night woohoo) then i had an 84 el camino with a 350 LT-1 pushing 425hp/425 torque. and then that was stolen... from school on the last day... but any who with the insurance money i bought a 87 GN with 55k on it.

the car is bone stock, except for a cat-back exhaust system and a K&N filter... what can i do to get the lowest ET out of the car... for rubber i got pirnelle (sp?) 225/50/15's

in the future, i want to put a 3" downpipe w/ a new cat, 42 or 48# an hour injectors, adventually a new turbo but im going to turn the stock one up to 18psi a warlbo 340 pump (hot wired) and im getting a red or something like that race chip... does this sound like a good combo

to tell the truth i want to beat this kid at school with a CRX into the ground, his car runs 13s and i want to show him american power all the way...

what will my car run when i take it to the track in 2 weeks? then what about after those mods? i have a pair of slicks, but they dont have much thread on them so im saving them for after i do the new mods...

thanks a lot

neil

You would do well to study the carefully prepared information about your questions at: http://www.gnttype.org/maint/basics.html, then http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/sunday.html Answers to your question of ET's are there....

The FIRST item you'll need access to is a scan tool. Don't change boost or injectors, or anything else until you have put a scan tool on there and understand what its telling you!!

If you're even half as impatient as I was at your age, you'll need to rein in that urge to modify your car and race before you should....Good Luck :-)
