This started just recently. I was driving my 1984 T-Type and the engine started sputtering. I pulled over, put it in park, and the engine was loping really bad. I'm pretty sure it wasn't firing on all six. I feathered the gas for short while, and then i heard a loud pop from under the car, the SES light came on, and then the engine started running *pretty* smoothly. I am going to give it some new plugs and wires today, see if that helps. Any other suggestions?

Have you checked what code is set? That might be a good place to start. See http://www.gnttype.org/maint/malf.html

As Scott pointed out... the code will give you a good starting place for troubleshooting. It almost sounds like the MAF....

Ok, Thanks. I read that article, and i still have one Q:
Where do these error code numbers display? Somewhere on the Dash?

Thanks
Brian

Read the article carefully. The SES light itself will flash out the code numbers when you do the diagnostic procedure.

Ok Thanks. I Did read the article. I thought it flashed an actual number somewhere, not flash out a certain number of times. Anyhow, i got error code 44 and 42. 44 shouldn't be a problem, but 42 seems a little over my head.

I recently replaced the ICM and the coil pack from a guy's parts car. I just spoke with him, he says the coil pack *May* have come from a GN and not a T-Type. This is real shady. Anyways, would that make a difference? Do i have to replace the coil pack again? Or should i look for a wiring problem elsewhere? I appreciate any help!

Thanks
Brian M

I also have a code 42 along with codes 22 and 52. A new TPS should resolve the 22 but Im trying to figure out how to cure the others. I also just converted the coil and module to the 87 style. By default does the IAC and ECM have to be reseted for everything to work properly??
