Aloha everyone. I just signed up here and I have a question. I don't own a GN/T-Type but I do own an 86 Olds Cutlass and I was wondering what I need to do to get my door glass to seal up better on my car. Here is what I've done to my car so maybe someone can help me out.
About my car:
Plain Jane 86 Cutlass with crank windows and manual locks. The car does have aftermarket T-Tops (Cars&Concepts).
New parts installed:
New GM upper door hinge unit for drivers side door.
New T-Top seals
New GM door knocker
What I've tried to fix the problem:
Toyed around with the window adjustment screws under the door panels.
Several adjustments of the upper door hinge unit
Same for the door knocker.
My problem is that the back of the drivers door glass (staight edge next to the B pillar) leaves a good sized gap. And right around the blowout chip it doesn't seal very well. The rest of the glass seals pretty good. I reall don't have a problem with the passenger side other than I would like the B pillar part of the glass to seal up tighter. Now, the sweep weather strips on the drivers door are shot and the passenger side is starting to crack but in good shape still. Would replacing these seals help me out any or do I have another problem? The window adjustments I did really didn't help. If I moved the bolts one way it would almost fix my problem around the blowout chip but make a new problem and vice versa. Any advice? Thanks for the help.
PS: Someday I will own a Turbo Buick car (either 86 or 87).

It is for power windows, but maybe there is an adjuster somewhere that will click for you.
I have the same problem also. I can never get the darned thing lined up right. It is either to far forward or to far back or to high or to low. Now I just have it where it is best, but not perfect.

Hello Robert. Sorry, but I live in Indiana. I was just saying hello in a different way. I wish I did live in Hawaii. Not just for the weather but to get some help on my problem. Thanks for the offer on helping me. If you could post any help I would greatly appreciate it. Off topic here Robert, did you think the University of Hawaii got ripped off this year as far as getting to a bowl game? I thought they did. I mean, they smash BYU (cry babies) and go like 9-2 if I'm not mistaken and they get squat. There were way to many 6-5 teams in bowl games and a good team like Hawaii get jipped. By the way, is their nickname the Fighting Rainbow still or did they change that? I noticed they changed their logo and jersey's (I loved their old jersey's). If you don't follow Hawaii's football program then I apologize for all the bull I posted above.
my brother is in indiana, hes an engineer at allison engines. Yeah they got ripped, no doubt, but we're real laid back here, and the committees will get their just desserts in the end. Originally it was the rainbow warriors, but there was a "conflict" about the rainbow representing (Alternative Lifestyles/Gender Preferences) People. BTW, there is a store on campus and they may even have on-line services. if not one of the Monte other(i'm one too) guys is currently enrolled there, I can have him check.
