1979 Regal T Type 455 motor Turbo 400 Trans
This is a 1979 Regal Limited T Type I purchased from the original owner. The car had a dealer installed 350 Olds engine and Turbo 350 trans after the orginal owner had numerous problems with the factory turbo motor. When I purchased the car, it was not running and was left outside with the windows down for a couple of years. I gutted the interiour and removed the motor, trans and rearend. The car was completely steam cleaned and presuure washed. The inside floor, under the carpet, is completely covered with Dynamat heat and sound insulation from under the dash to under the rear seat. I added extra insulation to the door panels and rear side panels. I installed a nice interiour from a donor car. The car also has a dealer installed electric sunroof. I put in a Pioneer Supertuner CD player and all new Sony speakers. I removed the instrument cluster and installed all VDO gauges, including a programable electric speedometer. The inside is not quite finished, still a little painting and touch up to do. The body is arrow straight with a Turbo hood, aluminum bumpers and typical T-Type stuff. I installed a rearend from an 87 GN with 3:73 posi Gear set. The rear has a complete PST upper and lower trailing arm kit with greasable bushing. I also put on a Summit cast aluminum cover. The cross member is custom made to allow for the huge 3" dual exhuast. The transmission mounting was redesigned to eleminate the rubber mount and make it unbreakable. The trans is Switch Pitch Turbo 400 rebuilt by a friend with a Summit cast aluminum deep pan and a large trans cooler. High performance clutch packs and a Gil Younger shift kit. The motor's lower end is 1973 455, bored .030 over, TRW forged pistons, Milidon main bearing, connecting and head stud kit. Cam is .500 / .500 lift, 308 duration. The heads are from 1967 430 which have been ported polished and completely rebuilt with all new stuff. It has really rare cast aluminum rockers, which some people have argued don't exsist. The cast aluminum valve covers are from TA performance. The intake is Edelbrock Performer which has been port matched. The ignition is upgraded with electronic internals from Petronics and re curved to loose the vacuum advance. The carb is a completely tricked out 750 Q Jet. It is supplied by a Holley Electric fuel pump and fuel filter, with custom made mounting. ( No ty wraps or duct tape. ) It has the largest Griffian Aluminum Radiator made for a GM application with twin electric fans and with an adjustable controller. All unnessessary under hood vacuum lines and other un needed items have been removed. The headers and 3" exhuast are from TA Performance. The big block Flowmasters are from Summit. I bought a set of US Wheel 15 X 8, ( looks like a Torque Thurst ), had the back spacing altered by Stockton Wheel service to acomadate the 245/50/15's in the front and the 275/60/15 ( Dunlops ) in the rear. KYB gas shocks and front and rear sway bars also reside. I also have a set set of Belltech dropped spindles and coils that go with the car. I took them off because of ground clearance problems. It has alot of little things like, the battery relocated to the spare tire well and a couple of nice amps and 12" sub woofers in the trunk. I not completely finished with the car yet. I will sell it the way it is for $9500.00 or more when I think it is finished. I want to buy a house, that's why I am selling it. ( I almost could have bought a house or least put down a huge down payment for what I have spent.) This is not a hack job. I work in a welding and machine shop, where all this work was performed. Since I have owned the car, it has never been left outside. This is a rust free Nevada Car. It has a Cailfornia B.A.R. exemption, due to the motor change, but is not smogable, as far as I know. ( There are no smog requirements where I live. ) Photos available. An outstanding deal at $9500.00[IMG].
