I need to be sure of the hose routing on the wastegate solenoid, and the turbo. Everything is stock GN 87. I am the third owner of the car, right now I am verifying hose hookups with the solenoid.
The guy who had the car before me had one side of the wastegate solenoid plugged............i'm not sure about this, it doesn't look like a stock setup. The other side of the solenoid is hooked to a y connector which branches off 2 ways, one to the wastegate and the other to the brass fitting near side towards the flexible pipe. There is a kn type filter on the valve cover and the appropriate plug installed correctly on the turbo, so that modification has been done correctly. Can someone help me out? What is the correct hose routing for the wastegate solenoid? |

There should be a hose setup running fron the wastegate solenoid on the passenger's valve cover to both the compressor housing and the wastegate actuator. One side of the wastegate solenoid stays open, with a little foam cover over it. (Usually gets blown off, so its often just open.) The other (engine side) has the hose assembly on it. The single initial hose is divided by a Y with a calibrated orfice. (See http://www.gnttype.org/maint/quickref.html ) One side goes to the compressor side of the turbo, the other to the wastegate actuator.
Don't use a standard plastic Y, or you'll never see full boost.
