			Hey guys,

I have the shoes off, but how do I get the cylinders off? I took the line off already, I don't see any bolts. Or is all the rust hiding something.

There is a round clip with two small tongs that hold the wheel cylinder to the backing plate. Stick a small screw driver in between the tong and the side of the wheel cylinder and bend both tongs out and remove the ring. The new wheel cylinder will come with a new ring. This is a little hard to explain and maybe in the morning I can take some pics to make it clearer... Tom G.

			Thanks Tom,

I got it off already. The tongs were hiding under the rust and dirt. I got the new s 10 cylinder in and thats enough for one night. That tong setup is a b*#ch. I did figure out a quick way of getting the new tong ring on. I used my pocket knife to jam the new cylinder into place. That kept it in there tight while I used a screwdriver to jam the tongs into place. I'll have more questions tomorrow i'm sure. I already forgot how to install the e brake. So i'll start that tomorrow. Thanks

GOOD JOB! Nothing like doing it your self. It is a good feeling of accomplishment. Only thing I saw was the front upper spring is on the inside of the rear self adjuster rod. Should be on the outside, like in your previous pics. Tom G.

			Which spring? I'm lost now.

I did the wheel cylinder on the driver side but i'm done for the day. My hardware kit only cam with enough hardware for one side? I'm missing the cup thingys that the shoe springs sit in and the new springs for the those cups too. My drum won't be ready till tomorrow any way, so I got time. I can't believe Midas charges 200 bucks for this! Without the new cylinders!

Looks like the adjuster will have to be turned in (shortened) and the cylinder compressed if you ever plan to get your drum back on.

All done. I cheated on the bleeding though. I couldn't get all the air out so I went to a tire shopdown the street. They bleed it for free because the GN sitting out front brought in some extra business.

![]() Anyway, brakes feel great. Road was wet on the way home and car was still stopped pretty good. Thanks for all the help! I read that the aluminum drum pushed the wheels out a little more than the steel drums. Is that true? Can I run a small spacer to push the wheel out or is it just not worth it?
