Default My dyno pulls!

i had 2 dyno pulls today, my mods are in my sig check that out tell me if it sounds right. first run was 262 hp 365 ft lbs torque o2 at 832 no knock, 2nd pull was 265 hp and 336 ft lbs o2s a 777 no knock, ran 19-20lbs of boost. the air fuel ratio was 12.1 both runs, according to the dyno computer... as far as i can tell the car is tuned almost perfect. only thing i have yet to do is reburn the chip for the alky kit, still a chip thats burned for a non alky setup, so im sure with some more timing i should get some better hp numbers...

Those numbers can be had without alky and at a lower boost level. First off, I'd get a chip burned for alky from TurboTweak and richen that AFR about the 10.8-11.0 area. Then bump the boost up a little more. After that, you might be seeing some respectable numbers. It's a start though.

yea i would go up with the boost but its a stock turbo..so 20 is pretty much it for it i thought?. i was kinda dissapointed with the hp numbers was expecting closer to 300, ive been meaning to get the chip reburned tho, how much more timing will the chip advance it over wat i have now??

A chip burned for alky has other changes in it too besides just increased timing. If I remember correctly, Eric burns his chips with 21* timing in 1-2 gears and 19* in 3-4, assuming the use of 93 octane. Of course those parameters are adjustable too. An alky chip has speciall curves in the timing maps and removes some fueling to compensate, since the alky is supplying part of the fuel demand.

There is a limit to what the stock turbo is capable of, but it might have more in it than 20lbs. If you really start pushing it, then you will literally be blowing hot air and not seeing any gains. However, I don't think you are at that point though. Hell, the stock turbo has been in the 11's before.

Also, stoich on alky is lower than gasoline, so your power is going to be at a lower AFR than if you were on straight gasoline.

12.1 is a tad lean (and might be affected by the alky and/or wide band being used) ... normally best power is found around 11.5-11.8 to one. It's also safer to be just a tad on the richer side (less prone to "boom"! )

If you are using a lot of alcohol, then the type of alcohol can affect the AFR, since most alcohol has a different stoich than gasoline.

Methyl alcohol CH3OH 6.5:1
Ethyl alcohol CH3CH2(OH) 9 :1
Butyl alcohol C2H5CH2CH2(OH) 11.2:1

im not using a lot of alky i have the smaller of the 2 nozzles i got in the kit, and set they way it was recommended, i probably need to fine tune the fp bump it a half pound to a pound and should get it back on the rich side. its hard to tune on the street need a good 3rd gear pull. id like to see the 300 hp mark... how close ya think the alky tune will get me?

Well, depending on how stingy your dyno is (was it a Mustang dyno? DynoJet?) you *should* be able to make north of 350 rwhp on a mid 12 second Recipe car with no alky and just race gas.

Your numbers look abnormally low to me ...

it was a mustang dyno... i talked to a freind tonight that knows these cars inside and out, he suggested i reburn my chip bring the boost up a little more. and maybe do the valve springs that should bring me more near the 300 mark. now keep in mind my chip is still for a non alky setup so i know there is more to be gained out of a simple tune

Weeeeellll.... I might just have more than a passing familiarity with these cars

I'm telling you that your numbers are really low ... you should be closer to 350 rwhp, even on a Mustang dyno. With those numbers the car probably would run somewhere in the mid 13s @ maybe 100 mph. A mild Recipe car (stock turbo, stock intercooler, and stock injectors) with good gas, 20 psi of boost, and traction will run 12.5s @ 107-109 all day long. You're down at least 70-80 HP (taking into account the Mustang dyno will read a little lower than a DynoJet).

yea! i really appreciate everyone's advice!!!. i know the numbers are way off i mean i was running 13.0 at 105 with awful short times the power is there but idk way the dyno says different, im gonna shoot eric an email have him reburn my chip get some timing and boost in to her better stickys and off to the track i go.

but that wont be happening any time soon i decided to redo the t tops....

gonna need a 30 rack a whole lot of por 15 and some fabrication!
