I have spoken with one mechanic who is a little leary of the damper on these 980 Comp springs... the damper can ride on the boss around the valve guide and grind metal off of it. Anyone hear of this before or have any long-term experience with these springs? The damper OD is large enough (barely) to fit over the boss, but it has fairly sharp edges and I could see how this might be possible, as the damper is free to move up and down inside the spring.

Hey phil you gave me a comp cams spring #cc980 looked in summit catolog under comp cams their #iscca980 od 1.230 id . .821 seat psi 91 lbs is this the correct spring befor i order thanks bob

CCA-980-12's - 1.230 in. O.D., .876 in. I.D., 308 lb. spring rate, single, valve spring set

ok found them on line also lists retainers that are 7 degree but doesnt list locks are stock locks 7 degree thanks bob

hey phil with a little help from my neighbor a ford turbo guy o well i guess there good for something valve stems are11/32 found locks thanks for your knowledge you guys are engine life savers bob

OK, I called Comp Cams tech line and they said they knew of no such problems. Good enough for me.
