Default oil gauge connection

In the process of trying to hook up my oil pressure gauge from glow shift. This gauge came with an oil pressure sensor but not sure if this will even work or not. Any sugesstions would be appreciated. One wire (Green) goes from the gauge itself to the "G" post of the pressure sending unit while "WK" post goes to ground.

Looks like it'll work fine. I always just "t" off the oil feed to the turbo..

Ken,

You wouldn't happen to have a picture by any chance would you??? When I purchased the car it came with an oil gauge already installed and there was only one wire coming off the oil sensor. It appears like there might be a "T" piece already installed on the car but there is so much crud around that area that I need to get a degreaser to get a better visual. Thank you for your response. I got my boost gauge and water temperature hooked up and working properly but something tells me this oil gauge will be the pain in the keester..........lol

Take a look here for a simple write up ...

http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/body...eriorpage.html

Here's a picture of mine ... it's single wire since the sender grounds through the T. Yours looks like you'll have to run a ground wire. The wire is just on the post and not screwed down since I haven't finished getting the rest of the wiring harness all hooked up (just put the motor back in the car).

Ken,

Thanks for the picture!!!! Yes you are correct in regards that my set up I will have to run a ground wire to one of the post just like I had to do on my water temperature gauge. Once I get the crud wiped up around that area hopefully I will be able to switch out that oil sensor and install my new one. Once I get the new sensor on it will be a piece of cake installing the two wires to the sensor. A picture truly does speak a 1,000 words.

Thank You!!!

Ken,

Well my oil pressure sensor is in slight different orientation than the one in your photo but nevertheless, I do see where the turbo oil line goes in as well as the oil pressure sensor. However, the space is pretty tight and my 9/16 wrench does not grip the nut between the t-piece and the oil pressure sensor itself. I've tried a small pipe wrench and a pair of small vice grips. Any suggestions on how to get this old one off???? I've even tried to turn the nut on the very end of the sensor where the single wire is located but all that does is just spin the outer casing. (I knew I couldn't get that lucky........lol) Oh by the way, that "nut" I'm referring to is rounded off too so I have been trying to find something that is small with a mighty grip before I revert to dynamite........huge sigh!

Here is the picture of my set up.

Question Re: oil gauge connection

Vice Grips, perhaps?

I went to Sears and purchased some Robo Grip pliars as well as a set of vice grips. Hopefully, one of these tools will be able to grip the darn thing. I figured this last gauge was going to cause me the most headaches and sure enough I was right!

UPDATE:

Ok, I can get a pair of small vice grips around the oil sensor's head. However, as I apply firm pressure to loosen the darn thing all it does it turn the "T" piece that is directly into the block. So now I need something to apply a downward force to prevent that "T" piece from turning so I can break loose the oil senor. Any suggestions?????

Default Oil sensor removed

Thank God for C-clamps!!!! I used a large C-clamp to produce counter force while breaking loose the oil sensor with a small pair of vice grips. However, my new oil sensor has 1/8th threads which is way smaller than the original sensor. Anyone know what size threads are on the factory oil sensor so I can order a new oil sensor with the correct size threads??
